Using animal products in cosmetics?? Eww.

Do you know whats in your creams and lotions- you know, your L'Oreal, Maybelline, or Estee Lauder brand cosmetics? I know that animal products are included in just about EVERYTHING- obviously, we eat them and wear them and all, but just the fact that most of our cosmetics we use include animal products from rendering plants makes me want to throw up! The idea that animal fat, hair and various other body parts from road kill are melted down into a greasy substance that we actually apply to our bodies is pretty disgusting.... Plus the fact that we see beautiful models on T.V. promoting them and fooling us into believing that a little dab of animal grossness is all we need to make our fine lines disappear is quite ironic! (And quite untrue).

I'm gonna go throw up my steak now...

What beauty products are you referring to? Does it say anywhere on the labels?

You won't be able to tell on the ingredient labels of your favorite lipsticks, lotions, mascara, etc. but since the FDA doesn't regulate the cosmetics industry, cosmetics companies can put whatever they want into their products. There is SOOO much junk they add to their products to make you look good and feel good! My advice is to find natural, botanically-based products that clearly state that they do not use animal products or by-products, nor test on animals.

I prefer natural products and even homemade ones. My grandmother made her own and had great skin into her late 80s. You can see lots of natural beauty articles on my Creative Frugal Living blog on http://creativefrugalliving.blogspot.com
